Vibrant colours have always made me happy.
I don’t have a particularly elegant style of clothes, for instance, but you can usually spot me for miles. If I can, I will wear something extremely bright or shining. For that very reason I’m easy to find at concerts and even festivals, even though I’m tiny.
But it wasn’t until I started to take photographs that I learned to really see it.
As this is something I only took up quite recently, my photographs, for the time being, are usually not „about“ anything much. They are „studies in pink“, if you so want: walls, streets, people with colours that are drawing my eye. They don’t ‘mean’ anything, don’t serve a higher purpose. They can, however, elevate the grey of a Berlin winter and the accompanying different modi of joylessness, the so-called „winter depression“.
After starting to use Photoshop I realised that this tool, that at first felt extremely like cheating, gave me the possibility to match my imaginary world to reality-simply by tweaking it a little bit. I can transform a tiny bit of the world into something that is magical to me. My first exploration in that respect is the piece of red brick wall-that turned out to be quite pink and blue and yellow after I was done with it. Have a look at the original-the bit of pinkish blob was already there. I just had to bring it out. And I was amazed at just how bright and vividly pink it could be.
These photos have mainly been taken in Berlin and in Czech Republic, Karlovy Vary, during the winter of 2018/19.
This trailer was part of the crowdfunding campaign that was organised in order to ensure post production.
